Sunflowers, Fall Trees, Comic-Inspired Pop Art, Open Studio, and Magical Art Camps
Wow!
We’re wrapping up the first couple of weeks of the fall semester, and it’s already been magical!
We welcomed fall with leaf explorations, tree stamping and collaging, sunflower studies, and more. With our older groups, we’ve been diving into the colorful world of comic-inspired pop art. Plus, we had a blast at our Open Studio and Holiday Art Camps!
And all of this happened in just the first few weeks! Here’s a peek at what we’ve been creating:
Sunflower Studies with our Little Explorers
We started by painting sunflowers from observation.
Our little artists took a close look at real sunflowers, paying attention to their colors and details, and painted what they saw.
Next, we painted wooden sticks and leaves in the colors of the stems, and then put everything together on a wooden block to transform it into a beautiful 3D artwork.
Now we have a whole sunflower garden in the studio—and I love how each one looks so different and unique!
Study of Fall Trees and Colorful Leaves
We brought leaves straight from outside into our studio. The kids examined their colors and the lines that cross each leaf, then used oil pastels to draw the veins in detail. They later painted their leaves with watercolor, watching the colors pop out beautifully.
Story time was a hit with the book Leaf and the Fall, which inspired them to create tree collages using scraps of brown paper. For the finishing touch, they stamped leaf shapes onto their trees—definitely the most fun part!
The students absolutely loved the process and were so excited to show their parents their artwork at the end of class! 💛
Rosh Hashanah Art Camps Were Pure Magic!
Wow—what an incredible couple of days filled with creativity!
The students had plenty of time for free exploration, coming up with wonderful ideas as they painted, cut, glued, and used their imaginations to create beautiful things.
They also enjoyed creating their 3D butterfly and bugs pictures and giant rainbows.
The kids had an absolute blast—and we can’t wait for more art camps to come! 💛
